Samsung 33G 18650 cells are a brand new 3150 mAh cell offered by Samsung. They are designed for electric vehicle applications and therefore are a unique blend of high capacity and long life, similar to the older Panasonic 18650B cells, but with a newer chemistry.
This also means that they are slightly lower power cells. They still offer good power, but they are best used with more cells in parallel if you need a higher power pack. This takes advantage of their high capacity to build an energy dense battery pack that can support lots of current.
With a 3,150 mAh capacity, they have fairly high capacity as far as 18650 cells go. If you want the absolute highest capacity 18650 cells though, you’ll want to check out our LG MJ1 cells.
Because these cells are so new to the market, there isn’t a lot of long-term test data available yet. However, according to a Samsung representative, these EV cells are designed to last for 8 years when charged from 2.75 V to 4.1 V. You can of course charge them all the way to 4.2 V like normal, but you might not get your full 8 years out of them.
With a continuous discharge current rating of 6.5 A, these can provide more power than you’ll need from them, which is exactly what you want in a battery cell. By discharging at a rate lower than the max discharge rate, the cells will be healthier, cooler and last longer.
These cells are made to Samsung’s quality control standards at one of their newest production factories.
This item includes two cells. So when ordering, remember to divide the total number of cells you need by two. If you need 50 cells, add quantity 25 to your cart and you’ll get 50 cells total.
